Details
Join us at Arana Gulch to survey 30 soil sites where the threatened Santa Cruz Tarplant (Holocarpha macradenia) does or does not like to grow. Let's see if eDNA gives us a hint as to why it thrives in some places! This bioblitz is in partnership with Taylorlyn Stephan, graduate student in BME at UCSC, who is working with incoming grad students to develop a reference genome for this species. Many regulatory and conservation agencies are involved in protecting and assisting this species, as are some amazing horticulturalists and botanists you can meet if you join us to sample eDNA!
If you'd like to join, please email Colin at the contact provided on this event page.
